Yamaha unveils its latest snowmobiles

The 2011 - yep, 2011! -- range has already been announced

Yamaha has just taken the wraps off its 2011 snowmobiles, or sunomobiru as they're called in Japan.

The edgy-looking designs will be available from November this year --in Japan, as Yamaha Australia doesn't import snowmobiles - spanning a total of four new models, including the FXNytro M-TX 162 and FXNytro X-TX, plus the Phazer M-TX and Phazer R-TX.

The Phazer series are being touted as "mountain models" and are powered by fuel-injected 500cc four-stroke engines. The parallel twins are paired with a "highly rigid frame" from what we can ascertain from the Japanese press release.

The FXNytro models will be of more interest to thrill seekers, snowmobile racers, or those who like to attempt stunts while surrounded by fresh pow-pow. These models get a mega powerful 1050cc inline three-cylinder engine, complete with DOHC.

Both the FXNytro and Phazer models come with independent wishbone suspension at the front end, and the former also gets heavy duty shock absorbers.
