Yamaha to sponsor 2012 FX-Superbike

Our second major national road racing series welcomes back a former naming rights sponsor, ahead of a six-round calendar in 2012

Yamaha Motor Australia, through its in-house finance and insurance arms, will be the major sponsor of the 2012 Australian FX-Superbike Championship.

The 2012 championship will be held over six rounds:

  • Rd1, Eastern Creek Raceway, March 16-18
  • Rd2, Wakefield Park Raceway, April 20-22
  • Rd3, Queensland Raceway, July 20-22
  • Rd4, Wakefield Park Raceway, August 31-September 2
  • Rd5, Winton Raceway, October 5-7
  • Rd6, Eastern Creek Raceway, November 9-11

“It is really excellent news for the sport of road racing to once again have Yamaha back as the major naming rights sponsor of the 2012 Australian FX-Superbike Championship Series,” said Terry O’Neill, the managing director of ARTRP, the promoter of the Australian FX-Superbike Championship.

“Apart from being the naming rights sponsor, Yamaha’s continued sponsorship of Australian road racing means that AFX-SBK series privateer competitors get the best prizes in the country and their support means all competitors in every class in the AFX-SBK Championship have the opportunity to ‘strut their stuff’ in front of potential sponsors and the Australian public with the sports highest profile and best national free-to-air and pay TV coverage.

“Yamaha is offering YZ450F MX bikes as incentives to competing riders because we know that a lot of road racers have dirt bike riding backgrounds and they can be used for training. Plus the winners may wish to compete in the FX Supermoto series down the track.”
