Yamaha TMAX anniversary edition

Yet another limited-edition model to celebrate Yamaha's 50-year involvement in grand prix racing – this time on its maxi scooter

Yamaha is certainly going all out to mark its 50th anniversary in grand prix racing, with a number of activities planned throughout the year – including a massive jaw-dropping parade of race bikes in the next MotoGP round at Assen.

A number of models have also scored some fresh livery to mark the milestone, and the TMAX scooter is the latest cab off the rank with Yamaha’s signature red, black and white paint job.

The limited production model will go on sale in Japan on May 26, but it doesn’t look like going on sale in other markets.

Other than a fresh lick of paint, the TMAX remains unchanged, which equates to a none-too-shabby 38ps (28kw) at 7000rpm and 44NM at 5500rpm from the 499cc liquid-cooled engine.

Check out the Australian-spec Yamaha TMAX in Bike Showroom, which retails for $12,999.
