Yamaha has teased a number of all-new electric models which will debut at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo next week. The Japanese company has also promised a few surprises.
The most eye-catching concept will be the MOTOROiD2, which is the latest version of its unusual autonomous MOTOROiD concept that was shown off in 2017.
According to Yamaha’s press release, the futuristic machine can recognise its owner, get up off the kickstand, and move alongside its rider, giving the bike its own “lifelike” personality.

The clever functions are achieved through the Active Mass Centre Control System (AMCES) which uses attitude sensing, self-balancing, and AI-driven image recognition. The whole idea of the machine is that it acts as a human-like companion for the rider.
Also on display will be the TRICERA open-top electric three-wheel autocycle, the ELOVE scooter, which features an automatic stabilization system, and the E-FV electric mini sportsbike.
The Japanese firm will also show off its latest e-bikes (electric bicycles), a hydrogen powered off-highway side-by-side vehicle, and a hybrid electric “leaning” three-wheel agricultural bike.

Electric motorcycles will have a big presence at the Japan Mobility Show, with Kawasaki set to show off its hybrid Ninja 7. There is also likely to be a few surprise announcements.
Harley-Davidson was one of the first manufacturers to release a mass-produced full-size electric motorcycle, however many other manufacturers have hinted at having various new models and technologies ready behind closed doors. It appears many of them are now set to be unveiled.
The Japan Mobility Show will take place from October 26.
