Yamaha steps back in time

Yamaha Racing is breaking out the flare pants and the disco ball as it steps back into the 1970s to celebrate retro round of the 2014 MX Nationals

In 2013, Yamaha broke out the red and white 1983 replica bikes for the heritage round of the MX Nationals, but this year – Sunday, July 13 at Conondale (Qld) -- it’s yellow and black as its three race teams throwback to the glory days of the ’70s.

“Conondale provides the perfect back drop for Yamaha to celebrate our retro round at the MX Nationals,” said CDR team manager Craig Dack. “It’s an old fashioned motocross track that opened in 1977 so the yellow look recreates that time and the fans the fill the hill are real dirt bike fans who have been involved in motocross for decades.

“In 2013, everyone was excited by our 1983 inspired bikes and I can tell you the bikes this year look even better and with CDR, Serco and the GYTR Yamaha teams all taking part, there will be plenty of yellow and black among the Yamaha blue this year.”

Action gets underway at 8.30am on Sunday at Conondale’s Green Park. Tickets are available at the gate. For more information on the Aussie motocross title, visit www.mxnationals.com.au.
