Yamaha has lifted the covers off a new ATV, with the 2017 YFZ50 recently breaking cover in Europe and the US.
The company says it's specifically targeting kids aged between six and nine with the diminutive new model, which features aggressive styling reminiscent of its bigger siblings that's sure to make it a hit with junior.
The model effectively slips in beneath the existing Raptor 90, which is designed for kids aged 10 and up.
Arriving in a Team Yamaha Blue/White scheme, the YFZ50 is powered by a 49cc, air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine slotted into a tubular steel frame with single-sided swingarm.
Kid-friendly features include electric start, engine limiter and a tether switch. The power is fed to the rear via an automatic CVT transmission while drum brakes provide secure stopping power.
Yamaha says the model is tailor made for the youngest of riders.
"To help young beginners grow into accomplished ATV riders, the YFZ50 includes a two-stage rpm limiter as well as a throttle limiter to restrict the engine's performance and adapt to the rider's advancing skill levels," it says.
"A tethered switch allows parents to closely monitor new riders and cut power to the engine if necessary as new riders learn the basics of ATV control."
No word yet on if or when the pocket rocket will be making it to our shores, but it's due in showrooms in the northern hemisphere in September 2016.
