Yamaha's long and low CP250 scooter
Speaks a cruiser design languageHere's the latest production scooter from Yamaha set to go on sale in Japan, the Maxam CP250.
Based on a long and low cruiser look, the 250cc liquid-cooled machine retails for the equivalent of $A8500, complete with five-way adjustable brakes, four separate liveries, and a "double-stitched finish". We presume that means the seat.
This is definitely a scoot tailor made for two, which Yamaha is keen to spruik. And with such a low seat height, it should be a handy urban machine, although there is a massive wheelbase to factor into the equation.
Yamaha's sales targets are quite ambitious in Japan, and there is no word on whether the CP250 will make it Down Under.
In other Yamaha news, the company has also just released the PAS Lithium electric-assisted bicycle in a number of variants, with the high-end "City" version lauded for its long-haul ability - we presume a function of battery life, not leg life.
The PASs cruise on 27-inch tyres and, yes, they have baskets.
