Yamaha is forging ahead with its electric strategy, announcing the development of a new electric trials bike that is set to take part in select rounds of the 2022 FIM Trials Wold Championship.
The new Yamaha TY-E 2.0 is an improved version of the TY-E prototype that Yamaha unveiled in 2018 and it features a number of improvements.

The newly-developed lightweight battery has 2.5x more capacity, while the power unit has been refined by pairing mechanical parts like the clutch and flywheel with carefully-tuned electronic control of the motor.
Other features include a monocoque frame made of composite laminates, which is designed for lower weight and optimal rigidity, as well as a low centre of gravity.
Yamaha will enter the TY-E 2.0 in the FIM Trial World Championship from June, with Kenichi Kuroyama piloting the machine for the Yamaha Factory Racing Team. The bike will also be on display at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show which will be held from March 25-27.
The reveal of the TY-E 2.0 comes soon after Yamaha announced a range of electric scooters, mopeds and e-bikes. It has also already released the NEO’S electric scooter for the European market.
