The new up-spec SP model of Yamaha's MT-10 will go on sale in Australia this week, priced at $21,499 plus on-road costs.
The SP variant gains the Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension set-up found on the firm’s YZF-R1M, as well as full-colour TFT instruments.
There’s a unique Silver Blue Carbon livery setting the SP version apart, and it has a quickshifter and three-stage traction control.
Power is from the 998cc crossplane four-cylinder engine originally debuted in the YZF-R1, but which has already been reconfigured (via fuelling, intake, crank positioning, new light-weight forged pistons, et al) in MT-10 mode for the type of low- to medium power delivery that is the bread-and-butter for this type of class.
Yamaha claims about 160.4hp (118kW) at 11,500rpm, and 111Nm at 9000rpm for the MT-10 compared to 200hp (147.1kW) at 13,500rpm and 112.4Nm at 11,500rpm for the YZF-R1.
The MT-10 SP was unveiled at the Intermot show in Cologne last year, alongside the second-generation MT-09 which we have already ridden.
Price is $21,499 for the MT-10 SP compared to $17,999 (plus on-road costs) for the MT-10.
