Yamaha's ranks have swelled yet again, with the MT-07 Tracer recently signing on to give novice riders a sportstouring option complete with screen and panniers.
The newcomer is based upon the LAMS-approved MT-07LA and as such features the 655cc parallel-twin engine supplied by Yamaha Japan specifically for the Australian market.

The model also follows in the wheel tracks of the MT-09 Tracer which, in a similar vein, is a sportstouring version of the naked MT-09.
The MT-07 Tracer promises to be lighter and even more manageable, weighing in at a claimed 196kg (wet). The bike adopts a diamond steel frame that utilises the engine as a stressed member.
Underlining its touring potential, the MT-07 Tracer comes with a larger fuel tank (17 litres, versus 14 litres for the MT-07LA) and factory panniers.
Yamaha Motor Australia is hosting the MT-07 Tracer's national media launch over March 30 to 31, with members of the press to sample the new bike's attributes over a run from NSW's Hunter Valley along the Putty Road to Sydney.
