Yamaha Motor Australia (YMA) has now decided to bring the full-powered version of its popular MT-07 LAMS bike into Australia, bringing it into line with other global markets.
The 689cc twin produces 74.8Php at 9000rpm and 68Nm at 6500rpm, and will retail for $9999 in a Race Blue livery. Anti-lock braking won't be available.
In addition to the new High Output model, dubbed the MT-07HO, YMA has also added anti-lock braking to the MT-07 LAMS model, and that is now called the MT-07LA. The MT-07LA is offered in four colours: the same as the existing MT-07 in Competition White, Matt Grey and Deep Armour, while the Lava Red model now replaces Extreme Yellow. The MT-07LA retails for $9599.
When the MT-07 was first released, Yamaha baulked at bringing the model Down Under, instead stating — and eventually winning — its case for a purpose-built LAMS-approved model in a 655cc configuration (52.1hp 8000rpm, 57.5Nm at 4000rpm). Click HERE for a full review on that bike.
YMA has now followed a similar path to Triumph —albeit the other way around — which sleeved down its Street Triple 675 to 660cc so it could also fit under our LAMS laws.
Both the MT-07OH and MT-07LA share a common chassis platform, which includes a monocross rear suspension with horizontal adjustable shock mounted directly to the crankcase, 41mm front forks, light-weight 10-spoke cast-aluminium wheels, and dual 282mm wave front discs.
The OG weighs in at 179kg, and the LA — courtesy of anti-lock braking — is 182kg.
The bikes are available with a wide range of genuine accessory parts, include a sports/learner kit, touring kit, fly screens, radiator side covers, licence plate holder and a full titanium Akrapovic exhaust system. Click HERE for more information on accessories.
