Yamaha is the biggest selling motorcycle brand in Australia according to the latest Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) report.
A total of 42,549 new motorcycles were sold in Australia between January and June 2025, and Yamaha accounted for the biggest slice of that total. Honda, Kawasaki, and KTM followed closely behind.
But the FCAI does not count figures from non-members, including rapidly growing brands CFMOTO and Royal Enfield.
The recent FCAI figures are unchanged from the same period in 2024, and buck the downward trend in the post-COVID years. If both CFMOTO and Royal Enfield were included, the figures would likely show a healthy motorcycle industry in Australia.
Off-road motorcycles benefitted from a 3.3 per cent increase and a total of 16,807 units sold, while the road segment fell slightly by 1.9 per cent (16,254 units sold).
The scooter segment jumped up 6.8 per cent (2723 units sold), and the off-highway vehicle segment, which includes quad bikes and UTVs, suffered the most with a 5.5 per cent drop (6765 units sold).
Overall, the FCAI is happy with the results and says the market is holding firm.
“While we’ve seen some movement within individual segments, there remains strong competition and a wide range of products available to consumers,” said FCAI chief executive, Tony Weber.
“Growth in the off-road and scooter categories suggests evolving trends in both recreation and urban transport. As always, the industry remains focused on safety, innovation and rider engagement across all segments.”
