Yamaha kickstarts 60th anniversary festivities
The tuning fork brand is celebrating a milestone, and has set up a travelling roadshow around the countryIt’s 60 years since the first Yamaha rolled out of Iwata — and won on debut at Mount Fuji. To celebrate the six-decade milestone, Yamaha Motor Australia has organised a travelling roadshow truck complete with vintage model display, which includes a YZ250 owned and ridden by Stephen Gall back in 1974, the first monoshock machine (YZ250) and the first dual purpose motorcycle (DT1).
The first event took place at Chris Watson Motorcycles in Cessnock, NSW last week, with a host of Yamaha motorcycling legends in attendance to greet the crowd and sign a limited-edition poster including Mr Motocross champions Gall and Craig Dack, enduro legend Geoff Ballard and road race champions Kevin Curtain and Kevin Magee.

The travelling show display models will change to reflect different markets. For example, at the AgQuip Field Day in Gunnedah the display will have an AG/utility focus.
