Yamaha & Honda to go electric

Both Yamaha and Honda will enter the electric motorcycle market in the near future, according to reports from the Nikkei news service in Japan

Yamaah is predicted to have an electric bike on sale by 2010 and Honda the year after, though details are so far quite scant.

There are a number of electric two-wheelers currently available internationally, with the largest - a maxi scooter -- being offered by American company Vectrix

That company has also shown an ambitious superbike prototype (pictured).

Numerous electric models are sold in China, though the idea has been slower to gain acceptance in western markets.
