Alabama-based Confederate Motorcycles has unveiled the latest chapter in its Hellcat family of hand-crafted, carbon fibre-dripping works of art – the X132 Speedster.
The Hellcat name -- derived from the F6F Hellcat fighter jet -- has been synonymous with the low-volume American manufacturer for just over a decade now. The 227kg Speedster has a hand-welded steel backbone chassis, and underneath there's a throbbing 2163cc 56-degree V-twin with a five-speed transmission and 58mm throttle bodies, producing 121hp and 189Nm.
The suspension combines a 48mm WP fork, with a centre-mount Race Tech coil-over shock at the rear. Both ends have rebound and compression adjustment. Brakes are by Beringer and it has a tractor-style leather seat and forward controls.
The wheels are carbon-fibre, as is the 11-litre fuel tank, heart shield, chain guard and seat pan.
In Australia, Confederate is imported by Urban Moto Imports, and the current models, the Hellcat and Hellcat Combat, are priced at $79,990 and $94,990 respectively. Click HERE for more information.
The Speedster is going on sale in America for $US60,000, and Urban Moto has also confirmed the machine will also be making it to Australia, with a date yet to be announced.
