The promoter of the new-look FIM World Supercross Championship, SX Global, has announced that Melbourne will host the second round of the 2022 title, which is set to light up the city’s Marvel Stadium over October 21 and 22.
In what is effectively a pilot season for the FIM World Supercross Championship with Aussie promotor SX Global at the helm, the World Supercross Australian GP will take place a couple of weeks after the opening round of the title, with the World Supercross British GP slated for Cardiff on October 8.
Details of the third (and final) round are yet to be announced.
Presale tickets for the Australian round go on sale at midday (AEST) on Friday (July 22), while general ticket sales open at midday (AEST) on Wednesday, July 27. To register for access to presale tickets, click here.

WSX adds new teams ahead of British GP
It’s not the first time that SX Global has staged a major supercross event at Marvel Stadium, the promoter hosting the AUS-X Open there in 2019. The 2020 event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, with the world’s eyes watching courtesy of its FIM world championship status, this October’s event promises to be something truly special.
Ten licences have been made available for the 2022 season, with nine teams already announced. The British GP, at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, will feature AMA Supercross stars Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac. Roczen will join one of the 10 teams, while Tomac will race as a wildcard entry.
With a unique team licencing model and promotional aspects inspired by Formula 1 and MotoGP, along with $50m in funding for team and rider support and a $250,000 prize purse for each round, the new WSX series is tipped to usher in a new era for the sport.
