CDR Yamaha has signed rising MX1 star Jacob Wright to its factory team for the 2015 season.
Wright, 19, has been a revelation in the MX1 class since the taking up a guest ride with CDR Yamaha during the 2014 MX Nationals season, storming home in the final rounds of the championship to finish in an impressive fifth place overall.
His signature for the 2015 season was merely a formality, with both parties reaching an agreement during the final round of the MX Nationals in Coolum on August 31.
“Getting the opportunity to work with the CDR team as a guest rider has been amazing and now to represent them in 2015 is a dream that I have long chased,” said the 19-year-old Queenslander. “I have never realised how important it is to have the right people around me, but since working with the CDR team, my results have improved and just as importantly, I really enjoy my time at the track.”
Wright will continue working with the team for the balance of 2014, and will also compete in selected races at the end of the year.
The complete CDR Yamaha rider line-up will be announced in the near future, which according to the paddock rumour mill won't include Scotsman Billy Mackenzie, who was third in the 2014 MX Nationals behind Matt Moss and Kirk Gibbs.
The second incumbent at CDR Yamaha in 2014, Jay Marmont, has now retired.
