Junior road racing is a hot topic in Australia at the moment, with debate over a number of issues, including the type of classes that should be offered, age limits, and where events should be held.
hereAlso, the future of dirt track racing has also recently been discussed in an open gathering, where a number of interested parties, including 1987 world 500 GP champion Wayne Gardner, extended their views. You can read the minutes of that forum by clicking here.
While junior road racing is a recent addition to the Australian motorcycle racing calendar, dirt track racing is already an institution, but it's decline over the last couple of years has been gradual and inexorable - while the likes of enduro, motocross and supercross have prospered.
Gardner is a former dirt track star, as are the likes of Daryl Beattie, Peter Goddard, Broc Parkes, Chris Vermeulen, Casey Stoner, Anthony West, and the Stauffer brothers, Jamie and Daniel.
