What does Brexit mean for UK motorcycling?
It's shaken the UK to the core, and without the European 'bloc' what's going to happen?The British Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) — the umbrella organisation for not only manufacturers, but also service and accessory providers as well — has kept a cool head and put a positive spin on the momentous decision of the country to secede from the European Union.
In a communique released on the day of the Brexit decision, the MCAI believes it will now have "much more opportunity to directly influence how the Government legislates and behaves in relation to the UK motorcycle industry and motorcycling in general".
In a world where political, social and business alliances are increasingly via ‘blocs’, the decision by the UK to follow its own path in the go it alone has presented a number of new opportunities — but the MCIA cautions that how these opportunities are converted into strong international advantage is very much down to how both business and government perform in the coming years.
