Australian journeyman racer Anthony West has been granted a berth in the remaining four rounds of the Superbike World Championship, with the former Moto2 racer drafted in to replace the injured Randy Krummenacher in the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing squad.
Bolstered by his 2016 performance in the category last year, where he scored six top-10 positions in as many starts, West says he’s looking forward to the opportunity with the high-profile team.
“I am very happy with this opportunity to return to World Superbike riding a Kawasaki with a strong team like Puccetti,” said West, who’ll get his first taste of the ZX-10RR at the forthcoming round at Portimao this weekend.
“I'm excited to finish the season with a new bike and a new team, I'm looking forward to arriving in Portugal, and getting to know the Puccetti Racing team.”
Just last weekend West rode a Kawasaki superbike to 12-10 finishes in the highly competitive MotoAmerica Superbike category. He also finished eighth in the Superstock 1000 category, just ahead of compatriot and American racing regular David Anthony.
The Aussie has been without a full-time racing contract for some time so expect a strong showing from the 36-year-old Queenslander as he fights for his future racing career.
