Triumph has released a short documentary detailing Isle of Man TT winner Cam Donald’s quest to complete the 24 Hour Reliability Trial aboard a 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Pro.
Donald, a regular bikesales contributor, was asked by Triumph to ride its all-new large capacity adventure motorcycle in the gruelling race, in a bid to prove its off-road capability.
The film, titled Tiger Tales: Motorcycles and Mateship, follows the two-time Isle of Man TT champion and his best friend Donald Owen, as they take a pair of stock Tiger 1200 Rally Pro dual-sport machines and ride them to South Australia to compete in the event.

Clocking in at 31 minutes, the film includes footage of the pair’s preparation for the event, as well as the journey to South Australia, and the race itself. With the sprawling South Australian outback as a backdrop, the film has an epic and cinematic feel to it.
While Donald completed the race with both man and machine in one piece, he admitted it was a significant challenge.
“Physically, that was one of the toughest things I’ve ever done on a motorcycle,” Donald said after the race. “To ride out there in that terrain on these bikes over four six-hour laps for 24 hours was such a battle. It was brutal.”
Owen wasn’t so lucky, with a square-edged pothole bringing his race to a premature finish at the 16-hour mark. He quickly turned his attention to helping Cam complete the race.
The new 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 is a totally new platform that has long-distance touring and off-road capability front of mind. The Rally Pro model features 21- and 18-inch wheels, dirt-friendly Showa suspension, and a host of electronic features. The up-spec Explorer models also feature 30L fuel tanks.
