Vulcan 1700 Classic saunters into town

First of the big three

The Vulcan 1700 Classic is now on sale in Australia, featuring an all-new engine, six-speed transmission with overdrive, Kawasaki's first fully electronic throttle valve system, and new styling.

The overhead cam engine offers more horsepower and torque over the predecessor, thanks to a 100cc hike in capacity, while the backbone double cradle frame is now 2.5kg lighter, with a claimed 40 percent increase in rigidity.

The wheelbase has also been decreased, and Kawasaki claims low-speed maneuvering is now heaps easier.

There are twin shocks on the rear offering 78mm travel and preload and rebound adjustment. Up front, there are 43mm forks with 140mm of travel.

The Vulcan 1700 rolls on new nine-spoke cast wheels, and it's all finished off with completely new and redesigned bodywork and engine covers.

Available in Luster Beige with Pearl Crystal White, the Vulcan 1700 Classic is available now for $19,499 (plus ORC).

In coming months, the Vulcan 1700 Classic will be followed by the Vulcan 1700 Nomad and the Vulcan 1700 Voyager ABS - the world's first full dress Japanese V-Twin tourer.
