Vmax for 2007 model year?

It seems we just might finally get to see a new Vmax, over 20 years since the original was launched on an unsuspecting public.

The 140-horse 1200cc V-four has undergone surprisingly little change over the years and has proved to be a consistent seller, particularly in the German market.

However what was once the power cruiser king (before there even was such a class) is now getting tired has been well and truly overtaken by bigger kit with more grunt - Triumph's monster 2.3 litre Rocket III among them.

Yamaha put the new prototype on the show circuit late last year and in recent times has put nearly everything it has shown into production. This time around the machine is likely to punched out to 1800cc and will need to produce some big numbers to maintain its credibility. Look for the real thing at the international shows later this year.
