An unrestored 1903 Indian motorcycle has sold for $155,000 at a public auction America to a collector from New York City.
It’s one of only three built in 1903, and some analysts were predicting it could fetch as high as $500,000. The world record paid for a motorcycle is $551,000.
Powered by a 1.7hp (1kW) engine, the Indian was part of the estate of a chap called Charlie Alder Junior. The vintage Indian motorcycle was bought by Alder's father for just $50 in 1950, before which it had been hanging on the wall of a local dentist for 30 years, since 1920!
The rare American motorcycle retains its push-bike pedals and has been kept in storage for the better part of the last 50 years.
Do you think $155,000 is a bargain for such a slice of history?
