
As reported previously by bikesales, changes are afoot for Victoria's Club Permit scheme for the registration of classic vehicles.
But while vehicle age eligibility criteria for club motorcycle registration won’t, as previously anticipated, shift from a minimum of 25 years to 30, a number of other revisions have been announced.
A public notice recently published on behalf of Ben Carroll, Victoria’s Minister for Roads and Road Safety, highlighted a number of changes to the scheme. And while a switch to 30-year eligibility, electronic logbooks, and price increases for 45- or 90-day permits have all been discounted, the revised scheme will introduce new offences for breaches of logbook entries, along with a range of new permit conditions.

In addition, the updated scheme will outline a definition of ‘replica vehicles’ to provide greater clarity for owners as to what is and isn’t eligible, and will also outline exactly what information is required when submitting a permit application.
Meanwhile the availability of custom plates for Club Permit vehicles has been discounted, as has the prospect of an appointment at VicRoads when seeking to obtain a Club Permit. The proposal to have vehicles older than 15 years recorded in the Written-off Vehicle Register was also discounted.
