Metro Honda, located in the eastern Melbourne suburb of Ringwood, has closed its doors, as the harsh trading environment for motorcycle dealerships seemingly continues to show no signs of abating.
Metro Honda has been owned by the Ferntree Gully-based Jeffrey Honda since 2006 but, according to a spokesman from Honda Australia, Jeffery Honda continues to trade, with no official notification having been received to suggest otherwise.
The Metro closure continues a bruising couple of years for Honda motorcycle retailers in Melbourne, with the flagship Redwing Honda emporium in Heidelberg pulling up stumps in April, 2009, while New World Honda – notionally a car dealer – also opted to remove itself from the two-wheel sphere. Sunbury Honda, to Melbourne's northwest, was another dealership to cease trading, closing its doors in 2012.
