Vespa Primavera 50 4T

New four-stroke version to replace the two-stroke

The tiny tot of Vespa’s Primavera family, the 50cc model, has changed ‘hands’ and is now powered by a four-stroke engine instead of a two-stroke.

The change was made to meet the new Euro 4 emission laws, but Vespa claims there’s now a more linear power curve and fuel consumption has improved with the new three-valve engine digesting just 2.9 litres per 100km. That’s equivalent to about 300km from the seven-litre tank!

Power is 3.2hp, and peak torque is 3Nm – both produced at the same 7500rpm ceiling.

There’s a disc and drum braking combination, and the wheels are 11-inch in diameter.

The Primavera 4T goes on sale in May 2018 for $5090 plus on-road costs, in a choice of three colours: white, red and a limited run light blue. All have a brown saddle.
