Vale Henny Ray Abrams

Veteran motorcycle journalist and photographer, Henny Ray Abrams, has been found dead in his New York apartment

Motorcycle journalist Henny Ray Abrams, a long-standing contributor to motorcycle magazine titles like America’s Cycle News and Australian Motorcycle News, was found dead at his computer in his Brooklyn, New York, on Thursday, February 28. He was aged 57.

The following news story appeared today on www.cyclenews.com.

“Abrams was the longest-serving contributor in the history of Cycle News, reporting and photographing all forms of motorcycle racing from the late 1970s until his death. Abrams covered everything from World Motocross in the 1980s to AMA flat track to MotoGP and AMA road racing and everything in between. He was a journalist in the true sense of the word.

“I hadn't heard from Henny since Saturday,” Editor Paul Carruthers said. “When you email or call Henny, he gets right back to you. When I didn't hear back from him, I started to get worried. An email from Michael Scott [Cycle News’ MotoGP editor] this morning saying that he also hadn't heard back from him got me even more worried. I contacted Dave Roper, who I know is a good friend of Henny’s and who also lives in the Brooklyn area. Roper went to Henny’s apartment with a friend of theirs who lives in the same building. She had a key and they entered the apartment to find Henny dead at his computer. I’m in complete shock. I’ve known and worked with Henny since I started at Cycle News in 1985. I’m at a loss for words.”

Bikesales Network expresses its sincere condolences to Henny Ray’s family and friends.
