Vale Darryl Hiddle

The long-time motorcycle racing administrator – which included a stint as Motorcycling Australia president -- has passed away in Melbourne

The current president of the Oceania Motorcycle Union, Darryl Hiddle, has passed away.

Darryl’s contribution to motorcycle sport began in 1966 and his dedication and service has been shown through the various positions he has held within the sport: President of the Oceania Motorcycle Union from 2000; Motorcycling Australia President from 1992-2000; Motorcycling Victoria President from 1984-1985, 1991-1992 and 2000-2013; Motorcycling Australia Councillor from 1977-1992; Secretary/Manager Motorcycling Victoria from 1973-1977 and Secretary of the Newport/Braybrook Motorcycle Club for 16 years.

Motorcycling Australia CEO David White said: “This is indeed a sad day for motorcycle sport in Australia.  Having known Darryl through his dedicated involvement in the management of the sport and as a friend for over 30 years his loss is enormous. He was always able to offer wise advice in his quirky humorous style.  He will be missed both in Australia and internationally.”

Funeral arrangements will be advised as soon as they become available.
