V-five Honda for 2009

VFR1000 boasts MotoGP-inspired engine

Honda is expected to launch a new road bike flagship for 2009, called the VFR1000, and featuring the company's first street-legal V-five.

Motociclismo in Europe has revealed this picture showing how it expects the machine to look.

If the speculation is right, this will be the first time we see a version of the V-five configuration used in the company's RC211V MotoGP weapons adapted for the road.

Intended to replace the Blackbird as the firm's sports-tourer flagship, it is likely to be unveiled this September.

Speculation on this model has been rife, with several engine configurations, including a V-six, considered at various stages.
The lead engineer is Yoshiteru Kinoshita and the project has been underway in current form for five years.

This machine is expected to be bristling with electronics, including the company's recently announced electronic ABS and combined braking system, which will also see service on the Fireblade range.
