After news that the 2023 Yamaha Tenere 700 will benefit from a host of technological upgrades, Yamaha Motor Australia has revealed that it will not be adopting the changes.
The new 2023 Tenere 700 will be released in Europe with a TFT display, smartphone connectivity, a third ABS mode, a quickshifter, and LED indicators.
These changes are in line with the incoming Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid version, which also features an increased fuel capacity and extra suspension travel.
However, in a bid to keep costs down, Yamaha Motor Australia will not adopt these new changes for 2023. Instead, the local version will offer the same features as the current 2022 model, but a third colour scheme, Tech Kamo, will join the existing Icon Blue and Radical White liveries.
According to Yamaha’s local arm, the move is “aimed at keeping the cost affordable for Australian ADV riders”. In Europe, with the new updates, the price of Tenere 700 is likely to rise significantly compared to the current offering.
It is also possible that this could be a strategic move by Yamaha to enhance sales of the Tenere 700 World Raid variant. By forgoing the new updates to the base Tenere 700, customers will have more reason to look towards the higher-spec version.
Yamaha made a similar move with the Tenere 700 Rally Edition, which it opted not to bring to Australia in favour of offering the various components as optional extras.
Pricing for the 2023 Yamaha Tenere 700 and Tenere 700 World Raid are yet to be announced.
