Upgraded 2026 Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid revealed

The Dakar-bred Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid has been given a makeover for 2026

The Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid has been upgraded for 2026 with new technology, improved suspension, and redesigned bodywork.

Priced from $27,349 ride-away and set to arrive in Australia from June 2026, the range-topping Tenere is set to compete with the KTM 890 Adventure R, Aprilia Tuareg 660, Ducati DesertX, and other adventure bikes in its class.

For 2026, the Tenere 700 World Raid features a six-axis IMU, enabling lean-sensitive traction control, slide control, and ABS. The Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) replaces the previous cable setup and supports two power modes.

The cockpit has also been overhauled, now boasting a 6.3-inch TFT display, a new windscreen, smartphone connectivity, and cruise control, all fitted as standard.

Peak power and torque remain unchanged, but the 689cc CP2 parallel-twin engine has been updated to meet Euro5+ emissions regulations. Yamaha says this has resulted in a low-RPM torque boost and more usable power delivery.

Additional updates include a repositioned clutch actuation for improved ergonomics, a new clutch cover allowing more legroom on the right-hand side, and transmission tweaks aimed at smoother gear shifts. An up-and-down quickshifter is available as an option.

The 2026 model also features upgraded suspension, including a 46mm KYB fork and a linkage-type KYB Monocross rear shock, both fully adjustable. Wheel travel has been increased to 230mm at the front and 220mm at the rear.

The 21- and 18-inch wheels come fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, and a new 16-step adjustable steering damper provides added customisation.

Elsewhere, the Tenere World Raid’s styling has been refined, with updated ergonomics, a one-piece rally seat, and redesigned bodywork for greater rider freedom. The fuel tank assembly now features dual aluminium tanks that are 1.5kg lighter and reshaped for improved handling. Fuel capacity remains at 23L, which Yamaha claims provides “around” 500km of range.

Two colour options will be available – Redline White and Midnight Black – alongside a wide catalogue of genuine Yamaha accessories.
