Updated Kymco Downtown 350i TCS arrives in Australia

The sport touring scooter has received a number of upgrades for 2021

An updated 2021 Kymco Downtown 350i has landed in Australia, with the second-generation of the sport-touring scooter offering more sophistication.

Headlining the changes is the addition of traction control as standard, as well as the debut of Kymco’s rider-centric Noodoe Navigation system as standard.

Despite the updates, the Downtown 350i will maintain its affordable price tag of $7490 (plus ORC), and will hit showroom floors late October.

The LAMS-approved scooter is powered by 321cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 28.8hp at 7250rpm and 30Nm of torque at 5750rpm. The engine has been refined for 2020, with more performance and flexibility, as well as Euro 4 compliance.

With a 12.5L fuel tank, the Downtown 350i offers an economical urban ride, with a generous riding range of around 325km.

Agility, comfort and versatility are important for the Downtown 350i TCS

Agility, comfort and versatility are main points in the Downtown 350i’s design brief with the steel-tube chassis, a 37mm fork (110mm travel) and twin rear shock (108mm) offering a comfortable and sporty ride.

For stopping power, the Downtown 350i packs twin 260mm floating discs and three piston calipers up front, and a 240mm disc and twin-piston caliper at the rear. The ABS system is the latest Bosch 9.1M dual-channel system.

The dash now integrates Noodoe Navigation

The new traction control system adds an extra level of safety on top of the existing ABS brakes. The Noodoe Navigation system also makes for a safer ride, with a number of features that allow the rider to focus on the road and not the directions. It is operated by a smartphone app, and integrates with the large colour TFT screen.

Other features include a double glove compartment, roomy under-seat storage, a USB port, a digital/analogue dash, and a multi-function ignition lock.

Plenty of storage room under the seat

The original Kymco Downtown 350i was launched in 2009 and has proved popular with 100,000 units sold across 40 countries. The new 2021 Downtown 350i TCS comes in two colours (Matte Silver and Matte Grey Metallic), and includes a three-year factory warranty.
