Updated Kawasaki ER-6s

But one's now a Ninja

Kawasaki’s popular ER-6 range of middleweight parallel twins has been upgraded for 2009, and will feature on the Japanese manufacturer’s stand at the upcoming Melbourne Motorcycle Expo (October 30-November 2).

The ER-6F, which will now be known as the Ninja 650 (bringing it in line with North America), has received over 40 updates and refinements, with all the fundamentals --  suspension, engine and frame – coming in for attention.

Kawasaki claims the 650cc engine now has better bottom end and mid-range response, and vibration has been reduced thanks to the addition of more rubber mounting on the engine and handlebars.

The trellis frame and laydown rear shock design remains, and there is now a lower seat height (790mm).

The windscreen is now wider, and there are also dual headlights.

Meanwhile, the ER-6N shares the mechanicals from the faired Ninja 650, so it’s also been rejuvenated – but with a more muscular, hairy-chested look.

Price and availability are still to be announced by Kawasaki Australia.
