MV Agusta has updated its heritage-themed sportsbike, the Superveloce, with the 2021 MV Agusta Superveloce range boasting a range of improvements and joined by a high-spec variant, the MV Agusta Superveloce S.
While the three-cylinder, 798cc engine has been tweaked to comply with Euro 5 emissions standards, it still produces 147hp at 13,000rpm and 88Nm at 10,100rpm, but it now features new high-pressure injectors, a redesigned exhaust system, a low-friction DLC coating on its tappets, new sintered valve guides, and titanium valves.
The bike's counter-rotating crankshaft now features new bearings, as do the con-rods and countershaft, to further reduce friction and enhance reliability.
The clutch has also come in for attention, and now features a more robust clutch basket, while a third-generation bi-directional quickshifter is said to offer smoother, more precise shifting.
In any case, the MV Agusta Superveloce is no slouch. With a dry weight of just 173kg, MV says either model is good for a top speed of 240km/h…
The chassis now features new frame plates for increased torsional and longitudinal stiffness, along with revised settings for the front 43mm inverted Marzocchi fork.
The radiator has also been updated and is said to improve cooling by five per cent, but the biggest changes for the platform concern the platform's electronics.

The Superveloce's ECU firmware has also been updated, and the arrival of a new Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) from Milan-based e-Novia raises the bar in terms of the bike's rider-assistance systems.
There's a Continental MK100 Cornering ABS system, plus lean-angle-sensitive traction control and revamped wheelie control and launch control features.
All MV Agusta Superveloce models come standard with a 5.5-inch TFT dash, with Bluetooth connectivity that allows riders to pair the MV Ride app for customisable engine settings, turn-by-turn navigation, route recording and sharing, and more.
A new 'joystick' on the handlebar controls is said to make it even easier to navigate the bike's menu system, while both Superveloce models come standard with electronic cruise control.
For 2021 the MV Agusta Superveloce family expands to include a new premium-spec model, the MV Agusta Superveloce S. While mechanically unchanged, MV says the new variant "takes attention to detail to extremes", and features a "timeless" metallic white livery with gold accents, spoked wheels, and a brown Alcantara seat.
An MV Agusta Superveloce S racing kit will also be available, comprising a pillion seat cowl, an Arrow triple-exit exhaust system, and dedicated ECU mapping.
MV Agusta says the revised Superveloce platform has established a new benchmark for retro performance bikes.
"The only racing classic on the market, the Superveloce has quickly become a real milestone for the MV Agusta brand and the post-heritage world in general," the company says.
"This year brings many new features to the Superveloce range, with updated content and a technological shift for an improved riding experience. To achieve this, MV Agusta worked on every aspect of the Superveloce: chassis, engine, gearbox and electronics."
The MV Agusta Superveloce is available in either Pearl Metallic Yellow/Matt Metallic Graphite or Ago Red/Ago Silver, while the MV Agusta Superveloce S comes exclusively in Surreal White/Matt Gold.
Both are covered by a three-year, unlimited-kilometre factory warranty.
Local pricing and availability will be announced shortly.
