New Zealand electric vehicle manufacturer UBCO has launched its 2021 product line-up, which includes an off-road model and a dual-sport variant.
Now in its seventh year of operation, UBCO promises that the 2021 range is a significant improvement over its previous-generation models.
“We now have the world’s toughest utility bikes,” said UBCO CEO, Timothy Allan. “Our bikes are what we like to call all-terrain, all-utility, and all-performance.”

The 2021 range includes the 2021 2X2 Work Bike, which is an off-road utility bike that harks back to UBCO’s roots. It is designed as an off-road work horse for farmers, hunters, property owners, and outdoor enthusiasts. UBCO says it is the lightest, toughest, and simplest 2X2 machine to date.
Joining the Work Bike is the 2X2 Adventure Bike, a dual sport machine for commuters, delivery riders, or weekend adventurers. It is globally homologated for road use, and is also compatible with the UBCO telematics platform. The telematics platform allows for fleet management and connectivity, which makes the Adventure Bike an attractive option for delivery and rental businesses.
Both machines are all-wheel drive and powered by two 1kW motors and the option of a 2.1kWh, 2.6kWh or 3.1kWh power supply. The compact power supply units can also be purchased separately. UBCO claims a range of 120km+ depending on which power unit is used.
Other features of the two machines include low centre of gravity, regenerative braking, a rear utility frame, security functions, and an LCD screen. The Work Bike features knobby tyres, while the Adventure Bike opts for more dual-sport orientated tyres.
The 2X2 Work Bike starts at $8300AUD, while the 2X2 Adventure Bike starts at $8550AUD. Prices increase with each power option. The Adventure Bike with the KX3.1 power supply is the range-topper with a $9400AUD price tag. The power units on their own start at $2650AUD.
UBCO also revealed its FRX1 trail bike earlier in 2020 which delivers a claimed top-speed of 80km/h and a claimed range of 100km. It was expected to arrive in the second half of 2020, but its current status is unknown.
