New Zealand electric bike company UBCO has unveiled its new FRX1 electric trail bike. With mountain-bike styling and built for off-road riding, the FRX1 is designed to please recreational riders and farmers alike.
The new model was teased at the AIM Expo in the US last year, and the UBCO team has been working hard since then to refine the design and prepare it for release.
Powering the bike is a 50V lithium-ion 2.2kWh battery pack that delivers an estimated range of 100km. The battery can be recharged in 3-5 hours using a standard socket. The liquid-cooled brushless motor can deliver a claimed top-speed of 80km/h.
The FXR1 has a claimed weight of 60kg, and is built on a lightweight, 1-inch, tubular 7072 alloy frame. It also features an adjustable regenerative braking system, which provides descent control on hills and banks the power gains.
“The FRX1 is an important step toward our full off-road electric vehicle platform,” said UBCO CEO Timothy Allan in a press release. “It provides another level of performance and choice in our range.”
The all-new FRX1 is now ready for pre-order and should be available in the second half of 2020.
