Two new models have lobbed into Triumph showrooms recently: an updated Speed Triple plus a fuel-injected version of the Speedmaster twin.
The Speed Triple enters its 14th year and promises a host of refinements, including redesigned radiator shrouds, an upgrade to high-spec Brembo radial brakes, new multi-spoke alloy wheels, a new rear sub-frame, polished stainless steel heat shields, and repositioned aluminium pillion footrests for more leg room.
It continues with the 1050cc three-cylinder powerplant, claiming 132ps at 9250rpm and 105Nm at 7550rpm. It's priced at $16,590 plus ORC.
The Speedmaster meanwhile employs the 270-degree crank version of the 865cc twin, now with a fuel injection set-up that helps it to meet Euro 3 emission standards. Its designers have gone to a lot of trouble to disguise the injection, providing the bike with throttle bodies that look like carburettors.
Triumph says peak power of 62ps arrives at 6800rpm, with maximum torque of 74Nm available at just 3300rpm. Price is unchangesd at $14,990 plus ORC.
