Introducing the WolfSpyder, which transforms the standard Can-Am Spyder roadster trike into something with a science-fiction bent – or a road-going fighter plane as some wise observers have quipped.
According to the maker, the Arizona-based Goblin Motors, which dabbles in lots of alternative engineering, the WolfSpyder trike body kit is designed for single occupancy, and bolts easily onto the Spyder.
We’re not totally sold on that one, as the WolfSpyder appears to have a different chassis to allow the rider to sit lower, but Goblin says the suspension remains standard.
The rear fin is functionless, although Goblins claims it “may improve visible presence in traffic”. That’s because the rest of the vehicle is obviously shy and retiring.
So what do you pay for this ‘privilege’? Goblin quotes $US19,995 (A$25,000) – and you supply the Spyder. There is an optional overhead canopy and heater.
Getting back to sanity at a local level, BRP’s Can-Am Spyder roadster national tour is now in full swing, with the next stop scheduled for Shepparton in regional Victoria from August 21-23.
