Try Mick's ride

Dreamworld opens motocoaster

It's not every day that we do a story on a theme park ride, but then again it's not every day that five-time world GP champ Mick Doohan gives his blessing to one.

Dreamworld on the Gold Coast in Queensland has teamed up with the ex-racer to create a new ride called the Motocoaster

"Most people don't get the chance to compete in actual Moto GP racing, so I joined together with Dreamworld to create a ride that allows everyone to experience the rush of motorcycle racing," said Doohan.

Sponsored by sister site Bikesales.com.au, the ride features 24 life-sized motorcycles and four sidecars that hurtle round a banked track with numerous twists and turns. It promises a head-spinning acceleration of 0-65km/h of just 2 seconds and looks like a hoot.

Meanwhile the Aussie race champ has been in the news over at another of our sister sites, Carpoint.com.au.

It seems he's recently added a new toy to his garage - a very exclusive Benz coupe which happens to be painted in a colour that matches his high-end helicopter.
