Trust fund set-up for Andrew McFarlane's family

Following the tragic passing of motocross legend Andrew McFarlane last weekend, his former team -- JDR Motorex KTM Racing - has announced that a trust fund will be set-up to support his family, including wife Natalie and daughter Tayla.

All financial contributions no matter how small will be appreciated, as together the motorcycle community help build a foundation for Natalie and Tayla without their hero, husband and father Andrew McFarlane.

Meanwhile, details of Andrew's funeral have been announced. They are as follows:

And finally, the World Motocross Championship collective will pay tribute to McFarlane and American Danny "Magoo" Chandler at this weekend's Portuguese Grand Prix.

The news of McFarlane's death has particularly hit his former Italian nemesis Antonio Cairoli hard.

"I am deeply shocked. I raced with Andrew in 2004 and 2005 when we fought tooth and nail for the world title," said Cairoli. "To be honest I cannot find any word to comment on this tragedy, such things should never happen in our sport, our passion.

"I would like to add that I have a lot of respect for Andrew, he was one of my toughest rivals and his loyalty has been an example to many. He was fast and clean on the track, he was also a great person in his life outside racing. I cannot believe he is no longer with us.

"I offer my and my team's most sincere condolences to his whole family, his wife, his daughter."

Chandler, an AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer, Motocross and Trophee des Nations team member and AMA motocross national winner, passed away on May 4 at 50 years old.
