While Triumph’s new Tiger 800 and Tiger 800 XC were doing their best to steal the limelight at Italy’s recently-opened EICMA motorcycle show, the British marque’s new Daytona 675R was doing a top job of grabbing headlines all its own.
The Daytona 675R takes the highly successful base model Daytona to a whole new level, with a raft of high-spec components and an exotic paint scheme to satisfy even the fussiest of supersports nuts.
The model is powered by the same 675cc, liquid-cooled, 12-valve, DOHC, in-line three-cylinder found in the base model Daytona, but it rides on Ohlins’ race-developed, inverted and fully adjustable 43mm NIX30 fork, backed up by the Swedish firm’s fully-adjustable TTX36 rear monoshock. Further enhancing its on-track capabilities is a set of Brembo monobloc, radial-mount, four-piston front calipers – a step up from the base model bike’s standard Nissin set-up.
Other top-shelf items include a quickshifter and a host of carbonfibre goodies (including the front guard, the hugger and the exhaust heat shield), while the entire package is wrapped in a striking white colour scheme with red highlights.
The 675R will sell alongside the standard Daytona at a premium price (pricing TBA), and is expected to arrive in Australian showrooms in April 2011.
