A learner-friendly engine and competitive pricing highlight the all-new 2021 Triumph Trident 660, which has finally been unveiled with full specifications and pricing.
Triumph provided a teaser of its new three-cylinder middleweight roadster in August, but the British marque has now released the final production model.
Due to arrive on Australian shores in February 2021, the new Triumph Trident 660 will check in at just $10,999 (plus on-road costs), making it the cheapest machine in Triumph’s range. Triumph says it is designed to compete directly with the Honda CBR650R, the Kawasaki Z650, and the Yamaha MT-07 in the middleweight roadster category.

Triumph says that the Trident 660 also features a ‘class-leading’ 16,000km service interval, and a low service workshop time, adding to the affordability of the machine.
The 2021 Triumph Trident 660 has a claimed wet weight of 189kg, and features an all-new tubular steel chassis and lightweight 17-inch aluminium spoked wheels. It has a low seat height of 805mm and a narrow width.
For suspension, the Trident 660 will pack a Showa set-up, with an upside-down separate function fork on the front, and a preload-adjustable monoshock with linkage at the rear. There is 120mm and 133.5mm wheel travel front and rear respectively.
Nissin braking components, including twin lightweight 310mm discs on the front, will handle stopping power, while Michelin Road 5 tyres are designed to provide grip and confidence in wet and dry conditions.
The Trident 660 also features class-leading technology, including multi-function TFT display, two riding modes, adjustable traction control and ride-by-wire throttle. ABS and LED lighting are also included as standard, with a quick shifter, USB charging socket and heated grips available as accessories.
The new machine was designed entirely in the UK (though it is manufactured in Thailand), with Triumph aiming for classic and unique British style. It comes in four contemporary colour schemes: Silver Ice/Diablo Red, Matte Jet Black/Matte Silver Ice, Crystal White, Sapphire White.
