Triumph Tiger 900 wows in Spanish rally

Triumph’s Tiger 900 Rally Pro has proven its worth in the heat of competition, with Triumph test rider and enduro ace Iván Cervantes riding the bike to victory in the Trail category of Spain’s 2022 Baja España Aragón.

It was the first time the rally raid event, which is held over in Spain’s challenging Aragón region, has featured a Trail category, which is designed to showcase the growing ranks of highly capable adventure bikes.

While Cervantes came home first in the Trail category, he also was the 11th rider across the line in the Bikes class, where he was vying for honours with a packed field of lighter, more specialised and purpose-built rally bikes.

Cervantes finished the 450km race in an overall time of six hours, 13 minutes and 32 seconds, over one hour ahead of the second-placed competitor in the Trail class and just 33 minutes behind the first-placed rider in the Bikes class, Tosha Schareina Marzal (KTM Rally Replica), in a field of 75 riders.

The Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro was resplendent in a one-off livery produced specifically for the event.

“We came to the Baja Aragón with a clear goal: to win the new Trail category on the Tiger 900 Rally Pro,” said Cervantes. “However, our greater ambition was to finish as high as possible in the overall rankings, where people have been amazed at the pace we have taken with the Tiger.

“We are proud to have done a great job, and I believe we have given everyone a lot to talk about. This once again proves that Triumph is here in off-road racing – and is here to stay. We chose this race because we plan to come here with the Enduro project, and of course we plan to succeed!

“I’m very happy to return to Baja Aragón after so many years and to return home as the category champion with Triumph.”
