Triumph has launched its 660cc LAMS version of the award-winning Street Triple nakedbike in Australia, retailing for $12,490 -- $500 cheaper than the standard Street Triple 675.
Triumph Australia is quoting a power figure of 40.6kW (55.2hp) for the LAMS version of the acclaimed triple, which equates to a power-to-weight ratio of 149.8kW per tonne. In Australia, a LAMS bike cannot exceed 150kW per tonne.
The standard Street Triple produces 106hp and 68Nm.
“With more states adopting longer three-year probationary restricted license periods, it has never been more important for new and returning riders to consider a motorcycle that offers quality, flexibility, safety and brand values,” said Triumph Australia marketing manager Mark Berger. "Revamped for 2013, the Street Triple was built from the ground up featuring a new lighter chassis and wheels, better geometry, weight distribution and handling.
"This is great news for the learner market, as this fantastic and proven package including anti-lock braking is now available in a 660cc LAMS configuration, yet still featuring all the same quality components as the full power version.”
Triumph Australia is offering Street Triple 660 customers a range of clothing and accessories packages, including sport and touring.
