Triumph Australia's salt racer, which we've been documenting on Bikesales in recent months, has set an inaugural class record at the 2015 Dry Lakes Racers Australia speedweek at Lake Gairdner (SA) from March 23-27.
The bike set the time in the '1000 M-F class', but it wasn't all smooth sailing as it was tracking at 157mph before one cylinder on the 100-plus horsepower parallel twin 'nipped' up and it eventually coasted through the speed trap at 149.626mph.
That's as much as we know at this stage – Lake Gairdner isn't the communication hotspot of the world… – but we'll be following up mas more information comes to hand.
Harley-Davidson Australia also entered a modified Road Glide Special, aka 'Pepper', at speedweek in the Modified Partial Streamlined – Push Rod Fuel (MPS-PF) class, but we're yet to hear how it fared.
Although, like the Triumph, any time recorded will go down in the record books as no time has existed beforehand.
We'll bring you a full speedweek wrap next week.
