Triumph launches all-new Scrambler 400 XC

The new learner-friendly scrambler has launched in India, but it could make its way to Australia soon

Triumph is expanding its 400 range, with a new adventure-ready variant likely to make its way to Australian shores in the next 12 months.

The new Triumph Scrambler 400 XC launched in India this week and joins the Scrambler 400 X and Speed 400 in Triumph’s affordable small capacity range.

Key changes for the XC version include tubeless wire-spoked wheels, a high front fender, a fly screen, and engine guards. Otherwise, the bike is almost identical to the Scrambler 400 X.

As per the X version, the XC is powered by a liquid-cooled 398cc single-cylinder engine and comes equipped with switchable traction control, switchable ABS, upside down fork and monoshock suspension each with 150mm of travel, and full LED lighting.

With a price tag of Rs. 2.94 lakh, the Scrambler 400 XC is the most expensive of the 400 models, which in India also includes the commuter-focused Speed T4.

Triumph’s local arm could not confirm or deny if the Scrambler 400 XC will make its way to Australia, but it is likely given Triumph’s past record of bringing in most variants and Australia’s affection for off-road riding.

The Scrambler 400 X is priced from $9990 ride away locally, so the XC version would almost certainly crack the $10k mark.
