A new adventurer sport tourer based on the Triumph Trident 660 is on the way, with testing of the Tiger Sport 660 in its final stages.
The British marque released images of a ‘final prototype’ on its social media pages, promising triple-cylinder engine performance in the middleweight adventure sports category.
Triumph has partly disguised the bike in the images, but it has clear adventure sport geometry, while also sharing many aspects with the Trident.

It has been no secret that Triumph intended to expand on the Trident 660 platform, and the Tiger Sport 660 could be the start of more to come. A full-blown adventure model to compete with the likes of the Tenere 700 is not a stretch.
The Trident was released in Australia earlier this year as a LAMS-only model, however there is a full-power version available in overseas markets.
With an affordable price tag, powerful three-cylinder engine, and high-spec equipment, the Triumph Trident 660 is designed to compete in the middleweight roadster segment, going head-to-head with the Yamaha MT-07LA, amongst others.
In LAMS trim, the Trident produces 53hp at 8750rpm and 59Nm at 5000rpm. The full-power version adds 17hp and 5Nm to those numbers, but they peak later at 10,250rpm and 6250rpm respectively.
The Tiger Sport 660 would likely be offered in LAMS trim, but an unrestricted version could also prove popular.
Triumph has offered no further information on the new model, however, if the brand’s past releases are anything to go by, there is a good chance the finished product will be unveiled very soon.
It is a busy time for Triumph, with the new 2022 Speed Triple RS 1200 recently joining the Trident and a refreshed Bonneville range in the brand's lineup. Triumph is also currently working on a full motocross and enduro range with Ivan Cervantes and Ricky Carmichael.
