The marketing executive of Triumph Australia has unequivocally quashed rumours the factory was planning to take over the sole distributorship of its products Down Under, replicating the arrangement of the four Japanese manufacturers and Harley-Davidson.
Speaking at the Bonneville T100 and Street Cup launch in Tasmania, Nigel Harvey said Triumph Australia, part of the massive Peter Stevens Importers business, would continue to distribute Triumph locally into the foreseeable future – extending a relationship that has now spanned four decades.
"We are aware of rumours circulation about the factory taking over the distributorship, but I can say in absolutely unambiguous terms that is not correct," said Harvey. "Only recently, Paul Chiodo, Steve Chiodo and I met with Triumph CEO Nick Bloor in Milan, and the relationship between the two organisations continues to be rock solid – and will continue to be so well into the future."
Nick Bloor is the son of Triumph saviour John Bloor, and became the company's head honcho in 2010. Steve Chiodo founded Peter Stevens Importers, and his son Paul took on the CEO role a few years ago.
