Hands up who loves trials bikes? We do! So we thought we'd post a quick update on what's happening at the X-Trial World Championships.
The latest round was held indoors in the Swiss capital of Geneva last weekend and Spanish maestro Toni Bou has yet again stamped his name all over the event. Having already won eight titles (2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 indoor and outdoor championships), Bou is the second most successful rider ever, only bettered by Dougie Lampkin.
As Bou's fourth consecutive win this year, the Repsol rider now sits some 23 points ahead of his nearest rival, Albert Cabestany. If Toni Bou wins the next event in his home country (Madrid on March 12), he would secure his ninth world title! Dougie Lampkin's 12 titles could be under threat in 2013...
Could the Spanish Repsol rider's success be replicated in the MotoGP championship in 2011 with the new three-man Honda Repsol team of Stoner, Dovizioso and Pedrosa? Time will tell.
Back to the X-Trial World Championships, and here's what the freakishly talented Toni Bou had to say after his Swiss win: "After achieving a new victory last Sunday in Barcelona, it was very important to keep the concentration. It is fantastic to have won all four events, everything is going our way and our motivation is at its highest.
"Nevertheless, we know we cannot get too confident. Twenty three points is a good margin, but there are still 40 available and, as we could see, our closest rival is very strong," stated Mr Bou.
